4th Annual Roky Erickson Psychedelic Ice Cream Social

So Lujan asks FamiliesRock! to help out at the Roky Erickson Psychedelic Ice Cream Social March 2006 at Threadgills... Oh Yeah!!

First things first ~ They needed backstage passes. Greg enjoyed designing and producing them from Roky posters.

Trivia: All of the letters on the pass came from Roky posters on the back... except one. If you're lucky enough to have a pass, find it.

FamiliesRock! folk were in force ~ BNF, Lehr, Lujan got to help out...

And the kids stole the show (and the ice cream booth). '06 found them in ankle monitors... homeschoolers

Greg and Isaac took the boys to pick up amps at the Gibson showroom for Roky and the boys mohawks intrigued the Gibson crew.

They took mucho photos of the boys and asked permission to use them for publicity...

Too loud for Isaac and...

Sumner Erickson is Roky's bro and generously helps take care of Roky through his trust fund in which this annual event is a benefit.

Magic Christian was one of our favorite performances of the day. They came all the way from San Fran and had a cool funky energetic vibe. On the left is the legendary Cyril Jordan from the Flaming Groovies with his wicked cool clear guitar.

Paul Kopf says we can come hang out with him in San Fran next time we're there. We're thinking coffee on Haight Ashbury with this groovy fella...

Dave with Threadgills was immense help during the event.

So many creative people came together this day and rocked out with Roky.

Threadgills James Duvall (sound) is amazing. We first experienced his talent at Guy Forsyth's show.

Everyone including this artist donated their proceeds to Roky's trust.

And this beautiful thang donated a lot of energy.

Jenn collected all the performers signatures and set lists for an XM radio broadcast of the show.

It was great to see other Families there enjoying the music.

The legendary Powell St. John made their first appearance in 40 years!

Austin helped Matt manage the stage with pure precision. They stayed mostly on schedule and almost in order. Here they're finishing helping setup The Minus 5 who was another favorite for the day.

Minus 5 was a pleasant surprise for those of us lovers of R.E.M. That's Peter Buck next to Isaac.

Austin filmed a lot of the show with Sumner Erickson's video camera.

Roky took the stage last and performed about an hour to a hungry crowd of Roky fans.

Roky's a real legend in the music industry. He has many fans that came from all over the world. It was a great experience for FamiliesRock! and he now has a whole new generation of fans.

Jenn was very excited to be close to Peter.

The kids raised tips from serving Ice Cream and donated it to the fund.
